Hello. Writing the september update because I’m bored and need something to kill time with.
To sum up things quickly: Yuzuki is under QA right now, Akatsuki 2 has been completely edited, and Akatsuki 3 has surpassed the 50% mark, while I’m close to finishing the first set of routes.
I want to write about the recent updates regarding our group:
First of all, as some of you already know, I’ve been hired by Cherry Kiss Games to work on some of their stuff. I’ll occasionally do stuff for them, so I guess this could be considered the beginning of my VN path to becoming a professional once more(?). I also got offered a position to work on a game with a very well-known company and series, so I’ve accepted it. Note that these commitments won’t get in the way of my commitments with Daybreak Translations. If they do, I’ll be sure to post about it here and on Discord.
Kobra, our editor, is also working for the group “Melancholy Translations,” and he was putting off their Kusarihime release in favor of Akatsuki 2. Now that he’s done working on Akatsuki, he’ll take an extended “break” from being with us until he’s done with Kusarihime. Do not expect any more new editing work to begin on Akatsuki no Goei until next year.
QA for Game 2 will continue slowly. Seeing the recent amount of releases in both fan translation and professional scene made me realize that we could spend more time working on Game 2 so it comes out exactly as I want to. Apologies, but I’ll paraphrase Kobra’s words: “You’ve been eating good lately, stop complaining you have nothing to play.”
Like I mentioned over Discord, I decided to work on Majikoi A+ and Ryouken After once I’m done with Akatsuki 3 as some sort of inbetween project, like we did with Gin’Iro, Oneyuu, and Biman 2.5 before. It appears we even got a Reddit thread made on us about it, so thanks to the poster for the effort and those who supported my decision.
Lastly, on the topic of the poll, since many people have asked, I’ll share the current state of it below. While I was thinking of leaving it up until next year, I might change this decision based on my whims because I’m petty like that. Anyways, it looks like this right now:

I also want to make one thing clear: while we do not keep the mail records of the voters, we can see the exact times when votes are casted, and it is clear a bunch of them come from people who multi-accounted and therefore cheated. I’ll make sure to remove what I feel are fake votes once the counting begins, so take this into account.
On a closing note, I’d like to talk about something a lot of people, even some team members have asked me about: my plans regarding daybreak in the long run.
For the time being, I don’t see the team continuing its operations after we’re done with whatever game the poll tells us to do. I was maybe thinking of doing some sort of donation site to encourage me moving forward after these commitments, but that’s a matter for another year, and a question I’d rather put aside for the time being. I would personally love to stay for many more years doing a lot of stuff for free, but as the years pass it’s becoming increasingly difficult for me to spend unpaid time on these things, even if I love doing them. For the time being, rest assured that my commitments towards Majikoi and whatever wins in the poll remain unchanged, and just like I’ll do with Akatsuki and I did with many other games before, I’ll finish what I said I would.
Have a good day and see you next month… maybe…

Are you under NDA with the well-known game company or will you be able to talk about it eventually?
Hey there, Weedle. Though I’m not NDA-bound at the moment, I’ve been asked not to talk about anything related to the project yet, so I’ll do so until it has been announced! So rest assured that eventually I’ll talk about it for sure.
