Post-Release Update

Hello. This post is an update on Gin’Haru and stuff concerning the Akatsuki patch we released some days ago.

Akatsuki no Goei

Thanks for all the words of encouragement and support we’ve received. As people started playing the patch, they’ve been helping us spot typos we missed and things like that. I’m also doing flash reads of the patch after its release here and there, and fixed a couple of mistranslations I found along the way. I’m sure as the days go on we’ll find more stuff to fix, but I’m mainly making this post to confirm that we’ll implement the changes eventually and upload an improved patch. The idea is to wait a month or two so we’re able to find as many of them as we can before uploading it again, to avoid confusing people, and ourselves as well.

Akatsuki no Goei 2

A short update on this. I’ve decided to retranslate the completed content I announced sometime ago, since it is my 2018 effort, and simply put, it’s not good. Prologue of game 2 was retranslated some time ago, and I’ll jump to Reika once I’m properly done with Gin’Haru. Release roadmap will be pretty similar to what we did with one: as routes get completed in all processes, we’ll release them to the wild so we can get early feedback and minimize typos, mistakes, etc…

Gin’Iro Haruka

I’ve dropped the project.

Just kidding. Anyways, progress currently sits at 115/139 scripts, with 9 out of the 10 h scenes done as well. I’m very close to the end, and I think that by the end of next week (speculating) I’ll be done translating the route. I’ve also translated the ending song, and we’ll insert subs in the ending video as well.

Once the route is translated, it’ll follow the processes Tsurezure did back in the day, which are:

  1. Irru’s pass
  2. Irru & I smooth inconsistencies and I do a light TLC pass
  3. QA
  4. I give the whole thing a final look
  5. Release

Many are already asking me when this will be released once the translation is done, and the answer is that I don’t know. I translated the route at record speed, so for those who ask, I wouldn’t expect the other processes to go as swiftly. Reminder that this route alone is longer than entire visual novels.

To add some extra info:

  • The route covers around 25-30 hours of content
  • This route I’d consider the True Route of Gin’Haru
  • This route has 100k more characters than Bethly’s route

Plans after I’m done with Mizuha

Another question I get on the daily is if I’ll decide to work on Yuzuki. The short answer is yes. I won’t do it because I like her, though. The reasons I decided to go for it are as follows:

  • I’d probably get shit on if I left the game with one route undone
  • Not doing Yuzuki would get me harassed (unironically)
  • Society

So, once I’m done with Mizuha, over the course of summer I’ll finish Yuzuki. Her route has less scripts than Mizuha’s, and it’s partially completed (I have to translate like 200k characters, so kinda like half of Mizuha’s route). The route has 38 scripts, out of which 10 are GIGANTIC H scenes. The issue: triplicate left the translation right at the beginning of the first H scene, so for sure I’m not going to have a good time translating this route. All I can say is, pray for my sanity, and give me some positive vibes so I can stay focused on finishing the task.

After Gin’Haru

Roadmap currently is as follows (assuming life stays the same, which it won’t):

  • Finish Gin’Haru around August / September
  • Get started on Akatsuki 2. Though this is all speculative, I assume completion of game 2’s translation will be achieved early next year.
  • Game inbetween Akatsuki 2 & 3 (it’s a big one, working on it one day every two/three weeks or so currently, since it’s far from priority number one)
  • Akatsuki 3, my last VN translation

Anyways, hopefully this solves questions and that stuff people ask to me all the time. The next update of this website will announce Mizuha’s route completion.

PS: Stop PMing me to “save” Tsukikana or “join” Tsukikana’s translation team. I will not work on anything toneworks-related after Gin’Haru unless I’m paid a professional rate in exchange.

Love your work so far. Honestly, the fluidity of your translations is excellent, and I love reading your works! I haven’t even considered following a translator before, but I think you’ll be my first!

Hi. This is probably not related to the note, but I’m currently using your patch for Akatsuki no Goei and felt I HAD to express some words of gratitude for such an amazing work, or I’d feel guilt for playing.
I’ll talk about you and you work with my friends, that’s for sure.
I wish the best for you and the ones you love, so you can keep doing what you enjoy!

I’m sorry if my english is broken, it’s not my main language, but I hope I said the correct words.

Hey there! Your English was perfect, don’t worry about it. Thank you so much for your support of my work!

Hi! Initially meant to be a discord message, but I couldn’t DM it, so I chose the least embarrassing second option.
tl;dr – A medium-sized letter of appreciation. Possibly cringe, but without risking cringe you cannot be based. Here it goes.

Finished reading Akatsuki no Goei (1) tonight & your blogposts just now.
First of all, thank you & your team for the effort you put into this. I thoroughly enjoyed both (even though the blogposts themselves aren’t directly useful to me in any way, I still drew some enjoyment from reading).

Immediate reaction to finishing AnG1 – it felt like walking in a top-tier restaurant and getting only the decoration leaves. I opened Anki to study again for the first time in a while in order to quell the thirst for the plot core 🐈‍, it really doesn’t feel like stand-alone story with a proper ending (which it isn’t, you yourself wrote that it was a planned trilogy), and mostly I agree with your assessment – vibrant character cast & cute girls carried everything else. 🤔

Repetitive as this statement may be, I enjoyed it greatly and finished it pretty much in two sittings and did not find myself actually bored at any point. I liked a lot of newly-made jokes to replace the old ones that I could hear and somewhat understand, even though I did find some of them immersion-breaking to a small degree, ultimately I only have good things to say about the new additions.

You are a big ball of amazing perseverance. Keep up this (insanity) passion of yours. 👑

Hey there! Thanks a lot for the comment and the words of appreciation!

It’s always a great thing for me to see my work being recognized and liked.

I am curious to know though, what jokes did you find immersion breaking? I assume you can somewhat understand the spoken lines since it’s most likely the only way to “see” when and how I changed the jokes.

      Cheers!
