Hello, everyone. Welcome to the June Update. This one will be pretty big, mainly because I will talk about something that’s been brewing for a while. It’s about time to talk about it since we want to be as open and sincere as possible.
First, I’ll take care of the project statuses quickly:
– Majikoi Ryouken After has been finished in translation. I’ve brought both Dowolf and Kardo from Maji Translations to help me out with the final touches. I don’t have a specific release date planned, but it’ll come out this summer for sure, once they go through the text and Kobra edits it.
– Next week I’ll start Majikoi A+ (I’ll make a specific post for it since I LOVE the engagement and am an attention whore). I plan to finish it by September or so, but we’ll see what happens.
– Kobra continues to tread along Shuumatsuron fast. He’ll be finished by July… maybe August?
– I’m not sure what the live update sheet looks like for Akatsuki 2 right now, but the game has been fully completed.
Now, let’s move on to the more serious part. As I mentioned previously, I am someone who, since reopening the group’s efforts around 2020, feels like the most important things are transparency and honesty (back in 2017 I was quite the opposite in this regard). This is a sentiment that most if not everyone at Daybreak Translations has.
As things stood until December last year, we had planned a full trilogy release for September 2024. However, unforeseen circumstances will push this date exactly one year to September 2025 as the LIMIT for us to release the full trilogy. I am not under any liberty to disclose more information regarding this matter, but you can get an idea of what this could mean.
I don’t plan any deviations from the projected schedule, which means I do not plan to stall the progress—It’ll be finished around the time we planned to (August/September 2024) and the Google Project Excel page will remain as “complete” for the upcoming year. No patches will be taken down from our website either.
However, if this deadline arrives and progress is not made in areas beyond our control, we will release the full trilogy patch as we planned by September 2025. This is an immutable and final decision from my end. To make up for this delayed release, I’ve decided to translate a hefty chunk of REMINISCENCE, which will properly close game three and give the fans something extra to enjoy after the long wait. This will come in the form of either:
– A separate partial patch of Reminiscence.
– Or a direct port of this Reminiscence segment into the Trilogy engine.
– On a side note, I also vow to release A+ this year to make up for the delay, something that I wasn’t sure if we’d be able to make due to my tight schedule this year.
In any case, the reality is that the delay will be significant, and for this reason, I apologize as I understand that many of you have been waiting for this to be released a long time.
Leaving the matter of the trilogy aside, I also feel the need to touch on the topic of donations, something many have asked me about in the past. Long story short, I was planning to open a Patreon along with the release of the trilogy.
Though the reasons are many, the most important and relevant ones are:
– Running Daybreak Translations requires an investment from my end. One that requires website hosting, cloud storage/backup, and buying translation materials (though I’d be lying if I didn’t say I also buy some for personal reasons). These expenses make a dent in my income, and it’d be a relief to get some extra help from a Patreon, no matter how small.
– My job takes a lot of my time, and I feel like a small monetary compensation from a Patreon would motivate me more to invest hours of my time on these projects after long work days, and overall continue to work on visual novels beyond Tsujidou.
– A Patreon would help me continue to translate longer visual novels after Tsujidou. I understand that Patreons favor shorter, faster, and more frequent releases, but I’d prefer to do longer ones that other translators/groups would never dare put their hands on.
However, now that we’re delaying the release of the trilogy for a year, this means that I’ll also delay the release of the Patreon. The main reason is pretty obvious: I am not motivated exclusively by greed, and many would think of the Patreon as me holding the project hostage (taking donations as a pre-condition for releasing the trilogy), which is a situation I honestly would like to avoid at all costs. For this matter, I will hold off on this idea for 2024 but know that this decision isn’t set in stone, and I would love to hear your thoughts on the matter.
If you wish to help me out with this topic in particular, from tips on creating the Patreon page and attracting people to many other things, I encourage you to reach out to me personally over Discord, because I’m not very good when it comes to these kinds of things. I’ll be more than glad to talk to you. (My username is barrybee3). Website and twitter comments would also be helpful.
That’s pretty much everything! I know it was quite a long post, but hopefully this clears everything up! I mainly want to avoid having people asking us “Where’s the patch?” and “When is it happening?” etc etc…
Thank you for your support! See you next month!

On all accounts, while free translation patches are appreciated.
Above all else, a funded translation group beats one that decays away from their lively needs and self-sustenance through work or family.
And i do wish to see you get through this in a stable manner.
This will sound materialistic, though some will think “whatever keeps the translation coming”.
Though i will admit you are my favourite translation group out there, somehow you keep picking titles that are within my interest.
I do respect your translation work more than quite a few independent groups, sincerely.
“Greywraith”.
Hey there, Greywraith, thanks a lot for the comment.
To expand on this, the fact is that I’ve been fan translating things since 2017 (though I only started actively promoting this team around 2020). Back then I wasn’t really in a bind to work because I had a lot of free time and I was doing just fine, but my recent delving into translating professionally is definitely something that has been taking a lot of my time. I normally have 8-10 work hour days (which sounds standard for many, but being in front of a computer translating for that amount of time is exhausting) and returning home only to do more h scenes and translation for nothing in return becomes somewhat grueling.
Whatever the case, I appreciate your comment and support, and hope this continues for the foreseeable future.
Thanks for the hard work man. Seems like Daybreak TL has quite a lot of ambition huh? I understand the pain trying to translate thousands of scripts lol. I hope that your dedication could last long if that’s not too demanding ;). Well, wish you the best of luck.
Hey there, BBJ. Sorry for answering so late.
Translating thousands of scripts is fine, after all my job is literally doing that. The issue arises when I have to do this AFTER I finish my job (which is translating another quadrillion scripts).
Either way, thanks a lot for your comment!
Even though I am not rich, I am still willing to donate to you.
Although English is not my native language, it is your selfless work that has enabled me to enjoy such an excellent work as Majikoi.
Nothing is more admirable than selfless dedication. Never let those who carry firewood for us die of cold. I hope you guys can make it through the tough times when the environment is so bad.
Hey there, Mustard.
Honestly, any kind of donation would be appreciated. I personally don’t mind if someone has more or less money to spare. After all, we all have our own lives and problems to deal with.
Thanks a lot for supporting us! Majikoi is certainly a project I’ve been liking so far, and hopefully you’ll see a full release of both games this year!
personally i wouldn’t see opening a patreon as a type of holding the project hostage, and i think a lot of us would agree. i would love a way to support this project, and from your explanation, you could clearly use the money. please reconsider allowing some sort of financial support.
Hey there, Robert. Thanks a lot for the comment. It’s reassuring to see many think just as you do.
I am reconsidering the idea of possibly opening a Subscribestar this year, but only after we’re done releasing Majikoi A+!
Thanks again!
Just make it, if anything it will only speed up the translation process and due to your past work on other games, I don’t think anyone with half a brain would think that you’re creating a patreon to hold Akatsuki trilogy hostage. I’ll personally add my 1$ immediately as soon as it’s up.
Hey there, Shirafune. I am reconsidering the idea of opening it, but after the release of A+!
You’d be surprised to see the amount of people who would believe otherwise, and I personally prefer to avoid all sorts of controversy, which is why I was hesitant to make a move like that. It’s super nice seeing people supporting the idea and the team nevertheless, and it’s something I’m very grateful about.
Thank you for your comment, and I hope you continue to follow our progress in the future!
